Day 3: It's just another day in the life of just another teenager from a rural area. This evening you get to see my viewpoint. My name is Dylan and I'm from Missouri. DC or the District of Columia, for those unaware. Is our nation's capitol and what a capitol it is! The past few days have been terrific; making new friends, site seeing, and of course we have to add a little education into the equation. Today was our first "Educational Session", the educational session was over the topic of Broadband, and Broadband connections in rural areas. And what a topic it was! The session started off with Tammie Logan, a represtenative of rural telecommunications. After her Power Point on the topic, questions were raised about the topic. If you don't know what I'm talking about, let me explain. So, to begin in the near future there is a possibility that rural areas with Broadband, will only have a limit of 4mgb. Whereas communities that are bigger and have more funding will get up to 100 mgb. Because of this, people in rural areas will not get the access that people in a city populus will obtain, thus giving cities an advantage over the rural area. Confusing I know! And if I left anytihing out, and you wish to know more, please feel free to visit your local Telco or any of their websites. After a questionaire session with Derek Barr, from Hardy Telecommunications, we took a quick break. Once the break was over, we were back at it again, watching a movie explaining the effects of the "Broadband" idea. To finalize the education process, we were put in our state groups, and prepaired to speak with a senator tomorrow afternoon. Next, we drove right on over to the Newseum. Which I have to say was amazing! I first walked over to the 4-D movie that was about journalist of the past, and how journalism evolved through the years. After the insightful movie, my group and I dined in the local caffeteria. I had the chicken (if any of you were wondering.) For the next hour I examined the detective and criminal minds area. (It was very cool, and you get to find out what goes through the mind of a cold blooded killer.) On a happier note, I enjoyed the Elvis Presely area, which was filled with the King's and his familiy's memorabilia. To finish off my tour, since I was pressed for time, I went to the tragic 9/11 part. The Newseum is definetly a hotspot you can't miss. After that, we transitioned to the Jefferson Memorial, in it's huge immaculate presence was beautiful. Especially in the nice weather that greated us. Then we walked over to the FDR memorial, enjoyed the statuettes of him and his wife. To finish off the evening we enjoyed a cruise on the Potomac River. The rolling waves and the decent weather topped the night off with exquisite cuisine (pizza) and great company. Thanks for reading my long blog (didnt mean for it to be so long!) Look forward to another wonderful tomorrow. Goodnight!

Dylan
